POS Pro is an additional subscription available as an add-on. It includes features like staff management, inventory management, customer profiles, retail analytics, clienteling, and omnichannel selling. All locations come with POS Lite, which limits the amount of staff that can access the POS and creates simple customer profiles.
Shopify also sells hardware, including a complete wired countertop kit, a mobile POS device to enable selling on the floor and at events away from the counter, and a versatile tap & chip card reader.
Product Review
Shopify POS is a point of sale system that integrates seamlessly with Shopify’s ecommerce platform, providing a unified solution for both online and brick-and-mortar retail operations. This integration allows businesses to manage their sales channels from a single dashboard, simplifying operations and ensuring consistency across different selling environments. Shopify POS is designed to cater to a wide range of retail businesses, offering features such as inventory management, customer profiles, and sales reporting, in addition to its core payment and POS functionalities.
Here are some of its key features:
- Integrated Payments: Shopify POS supports a wide range of payment methods, including credit and debit cards, contactless payments, and gift cards, all processed through Shopify Payments.
- Unified Inventory Management: Real-time inventory tracking across both online and offline sales channels, ensuring accurate stock levels and reducing the risk of overselling.
- Customer Profiles: Collect and manage customer data, track purchase history, and provide personalized shopping experiences.
- Omnichannel Selling: Seamless integration with Shopify’s ecommerce platform, allowing for a unified approach to managing online and in-store sales.
- Analytics and Reporting: Detailed reports on sales performance, customer behavior, and inventory levels to inform business decisions.
Best for: Businesses with Both Online and Physical Storefronts
Shopify POS is particularly beneficial for retail businesses that have both an online presence and a physical storefront or plan to expand in either direction. This includes boutiques, pop-up shops, and multi-channel retailers who seek to provide a consistent shopping experience to their customers across platforms. The system’s scalability and integration capabilities make it ideal for businesses aiming for growth and increased operational efficiency.
However, Shopify does not have many customization options for its POS interface. Businesses that do not need an integrated ecommerce platform like service-based industries or B2B sales should consider another option.
Why We Love It
- Multi-Location Management: Ability to manage multiple store locations and inventory across all locations from a single dashboard.
- Shopify Email: Integrated email marketing tools that allow businesses to connect with their customers directly from their Shopify dashboard.
- Shopify Capital: Access to funding options for eligible businesses directly through Shopify, providing an easy way to secure financing.
- Shopify Fulfillment Network: An option for businesses to outsource their shipping and fulfillment, streamlining operations further.
